During analysis, it was revealed that a significant challenge for Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) today is the amount of content delivered during orientation in a compressed amount of time. This is perhaps even more important when considering virtual (e.g., Zoom) training sessions, where fatigue from long meetings and trainings has a unique fatigue impact on people. Additionally, because ACCFB was working to limit the length of orientation, presenters covered key information quickly, and provided no other avenues for learners to proactively revisit topics in greater depth later. To address these needs, the ILT design recommendations factor in the larger goal to develop a blended solution that includes both instructor-led and web-based learning components, as well as recommendations for onboarding.
Project Output: Design Document for ILT
The Design document focuses on the instructor-led portion of what ultimately grew into the blended solution Capstone.
Following developing these Design recommendations, we moved into "Phase 1", in which we did an interim redesign the existing ILT presentation. The Phase 1 update was delivered in Spring 2021 to an orientation group. This presentation will be finalized as part of the Capstone and piloted in early 2022. Phase 1 delivery already showed improvement in participation, engagement during delivery. Additionally, you can see a positive shift in learner reaction on the Level 1 Survey Findings dashboard.
