I developed this module as part of the Capstone project. The client is Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB). The audience, new ACCFB network partners, needs to learn: 1) how and when to utilize various ways to access food at ACCFB. This module covers one of three ways: the Community Market shopping floor.
Initially, this module was developed in Captivate. The final product was transitioned to Storyline to simplify development and user interactions for the course (such as playback controls for online videos).
I used videos and interactive learning scenarios to involve the learner and created scenarios to guide learners through exploring and applying Community Market shopping procedures. No major functionality issues were identified during final user testing. During my quality check, I reviewed the module backward and forward (literally), testing pause/play/advance and branching in numerous use cases. Minor changes were suggested and implemented. I do look forward to further improving and enhancing this module in future courses! I used a Zoom H2N microphone to record all audio. I edited the audio in Audacity.
This module was an opportunity to put new ideas and learnings from IST 526 into action! In this course, Mayer's principles challenged some of my long-held beliefs about e-learning in wonderful ways and gave me new things to be mindful of, which are demonstrated throughout the module. As just one example, the Signaling Principle. Following user testing, I revised the scenario results to be a different color to cue learners that content had changed to feedback and to help learners immediately recognize if they got the scenario correct.
